Sexual Health

  • If you think your symptoms may be related to sexual contact, Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust provide sexual health services in Surrey - you can refer yourself by booking an appointment online
  • If you do not have any symptoms, you can order a home testing kit (for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis, Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia)
  • For more information on Sexual Health Surrey, please see the dedicated page - here

If you would like an STI check-up and do not have symptoms, click here to order a home testing kit. Watch a video with information about STI testing on this link and self-testing here.

Please complete and return the form included in your kit to ensure the samples can be processed. If the form is missing please contact: cnw-tr.surreyselftest@nhs.net before completing your sample(s).

  • Tips for Sample Collection
  • Review the instruction leaflet included in your test kit before taking any samples.
  • Warm, clean hands make it easier to draw blood for the finger prick test.
  • Your kit includes three lancets. If all three are used and a blood sample is still not collected, request additional lancets at cnw-tr.surreyselftest@nhs.net.

  • In-Clinic Blood Test Option
If you have difficulty in using the kit, if you prefer, you can book an asymptomatic (no symptoms) appointment at one of the Surrey clinics.

  • On-line kit Test Result Follow-Up
If you haven’t received your home-test results within 7 days after returning the kit, please email cnw-tr.surreyselftest@nhs.net

You can discuss any sexual health concerns with your GP service and for some things they will be able to offer advice, guidance and in some cases, treatment. If there is something they are not able to help you with, they will signpost you to the more appropriate service.

You have been sexually exposed to HIV and need Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)

  • PEP is a four-week course of pills that is started after someone has been exposed to HIV
  • PEP must be started within 72 hours ideally within 24 hours
  • A&E departments are able to start PEP when the clinics is closed. The clinics are closed on weekends and bank holidays
  • If you have a needlestick injury please contact your workplace occupational health team or attend A&E, Surrey Sexual Health are unable to offer this service

Emergency Contraception (Morning After Pill)

You can use emergency contraception if you've had unprotected sex (sex without using contraception) or if you think your contraceptive method may have failed (such as a condom breaking).

Emergency contraception can be used up to 3 days (72 hours) and some methods up to 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex. The sooner you get emergency contraception the more effective it is.

Every A&E department, except for St Peters (Chertsey)*, in Surrey stocks a version of the Morning After Pill (MAP) and this can be prescribed to you by the clinicians on duty in the department. However, you will be subject to whatever the waiting time is for non-life threatening presentations. You can also attend a Pharmacy (only waiting the queue time); a Walk in Centre (Woking) or *Urgent Treatment Centre (St Peters, Frimley Park, and Epsom General, hospitals) but may also wait a considerable time in these locations also (they are a part of the A&E department).

Pharmacies provide the MAP free of charge to persons under 25 years old. Some people over 25 may be entitled to this for free but may be charged.
